On the Election
Deeper than either the economy or the war in this year's election is the question of the role of government. I believe the majority of Americans, in dealing with high gas prices or the housing crisis, want the government's help. A government that stood by and refused the people its assistance is unacceptable to most Americans. This should be seen by Obama as a marvelous opportunity to prove the legitimacy of the state and reaffirm its importance. What a challenge to the libertarians to have the state participate in practical solutions to problems the market caused.
